How to Apply for a Home Care Package

Step 1: Apply for an Assessment

Start by applying for an assessment with the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). You can do this online via the My Aged Care website or by calling 1800 200 422. The application process takes around 20 minutes.

Step 2: Home Assessment

An ACAT assessor will visit you at home to evaluate your needs and determine the type of care that suits you best. This is a free face-to-face assessment that ensures you receive the right level of support.

Step 3: Approval Notification

Once approved, you’ll receive a letter indicating your assigned care package level. You'll be placed on a national waiting list and given a referral code that you'll need to provide to your chosen care provider.

Step 4: Allocation & Provider Selection

Once a package becomes available, you’ll receive an allocation letter. You then have 56 days to choose your care provider. If you select us, we’ll help you start receiving care as soon as possible.
